Manuscripts include short stories, interviews, lectures, scripts, articles and reviews, as well as various drafts and notes for Mantel's novels. The collection contains business letters and emails from publishers, agents, other authors, newspapers and magazines, as well as personal letters and emails from family, friends and personal fan letters. The Eugene Swarzwald Pictorial California and the Pacific Collection consists of 9,674 black and white photographs, negatives, a photograph album, magazine mock-ups, letters, and ephemera, dated 1909-ca. 1968. Eugene Swarzwald and the Swarzwald family collected the material for use in the magazine "Pictorial California and the Pacific." Images depict California and the West with some coverage of the rest of the United States and international destinations. The collection contains photographs depicting general city views of communities in California, scenic views of wilderness areas, images of parks, schools and universities, museums, and points of historic interest (including California mining towns and missions). The collection is strong in subjects related to leisure and social and recreational activities. Many of the photographs are by the Keystone Photo Service. One pamphlet, ca. 1920, entitled Industrial Art: For All of the Children of All the People, by Elizabeth V. Colburn -- a reprint of "Monograph from The National School Digest", Minneapolis, Minnesota. This 8-page pamphlet has the appearance of a newsletter, and is illustrated with black and white reproductions of artwork. The text is a discussion of the use of color theory within the public schools, and is divided into grade-level sections: "Grade 1. The Primary Colors"; Grades 2-3. The Binary Colors"; "Grade 4. Tints"; "Grade 5. Shades"; "Grades 6, 7 and 8. Complimentary and Analogous Harmonies." The last page lists materials needed for each class and advertises for Industrial Art Monographs, which appears to be a monthly feature within The National School Digest.
